The Abraham Accords and the changing role of the United States in the Middle East during the years 2017-2021

    The aim of this study is to highlight a trending topic in the Middle East, the Abraham Accords, which represent a vital shift in the modern history of the region. The study focuses mainly on the role of the United States in the Middle East and how it took new shape during the years 2017–2021, especially with the rising concern among Middle Eastern countries about the demise of direct American engagement in their issues. The results of this study indicate that the Abraham Accords represents a new US approach to dealing with the Middle East in accordance with the constant changes in the threats that the US is facing, where it is tending to secure its position as a great power by empowering its partners in the Middle East to play its role in a way that serves its interests and restrains the intentions of the other powers that might endanger the US interests.
