Abstract

The maritime industry plays a significant role in the growth of local and global economies. Due to the complexity of the industry, competing in the market can become challenging. Thus, it is important to have the right growth strategies and an efficient operation. Revenue collection is a core transactional process for securing revenue from customers. Having a highly responsive revenue collection system can be critical in maintaining a stable cash flow for the company.

This report provides a case study of a Six Sigma application in a transactional process. The case study aims to address findings regarding the applicability of utilizing Six Sigma DMAIC to generalize them among local maritime companies. In this study, the define, measure, analyze, and part of the improve phase have been implemented. However, the remaining steps of the improve phase along with the control phase are yet to be completed.
