RF Circuit Design for Satellite Communication

Abstract

The data link system has a wide range of applications. It can be used in communication in aerial, maritime and terrestrial communication scenarios that include aviation and ground communication. In order to apply this data link system for communication in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the operational frequency will have to be increased up to X and falls in the KU frequency bands to have smaller size, lower weight, and larger bandwidth. On top of that, these links need to be able to support high speed and long-range transmission to achieve high performance and low-cost system. The need of using microwave and RF design techniques with a higher frequency, in a form of an Integrated Circuit, faces many challenges for a designer such as: consuming more power, generating more heat and high cost system. In this project, a chip can be attached to an UAV in order to provide means of communication through a Data Link System.
