Abstract

Aircraft availability improvement analysis is conducted to evaluate the availability, mission capability, and unscheduled availability rates from the year of 2010 until 2016, considering the Eurocopter Fennec AS550 C3 helicopter as a baseline for the research case study. The year of 2011 has occupied the lowest unavailability rate. The analysis is extended to determining the causes of the unavailability by examining the unscheduled activities for that year. The result section is showing that the causes of unavailability are identified to be depot-level maintenance activities (Overhaul, modification, testing). Afterward, the maintenance organization structure is introduced and examined based on three determinants: the capability which covers the inhouse and the outsourcing, the scope of maintenance, and the structure. Revision of the current military maintenance organizational structure is introduced, and recommendations to improve the aircraft availability are addressed.
