Abstract

Partnerships amongst countries are helpful for maintaining and improving security and growth across all sectors. The UAE has been building strategic partnerships internationally for decades to support its upcoming missions and goals for the country. Evidence from previous research suggests that the countries can benefit greatly from developing some of their international relationships from strategic partnerships to comprehensive strategic partnerships. This research investigated when and under what conditions the UAE selects partner states to upgrade from strategic to comprehensive strategic partnerships. Employing a qualitative approach, this research elaborated on how the UAE will benefit from these partnerships, specifically by interviewing relevant government representatives and academics.
