    Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explore the extent ENEC is identifying and adopting the essential elements as per the NCEMA standard and the extent ENEC has implemented good business continuity planning (BCP) practice. The research adopted a quantitative and qualitative research methodology, using both surveys and unstructured interviews. Ten ENEC managers, lines managers, risks experts and business continuity team were interviewed in their offices. The study had two research questions:  To what extent ENEC is identifying and adopting the essential elements as per the NCEMA standard?  To what extent ENEC has implemented good BCP practice? With respect to the first question, the majority of respondents claimed that ENEC is identifying and adopting the essential elements as per the NCEMA standard. Their claim is supported by the fact that ENEC has implemented standard elements of the NCEMA such as total quality measurements, staff training, risk analysis, business impact analysis (BIA), and business continuity strategies. With respect to the second question, ENEC has implemented good BCP practices as emphasized by their adopting and complying with all the requirements of the Business Continuity Plan as per ISO, BS and NCMEA standard. The guide to good practice and methodology of the BCP in ENEC are identified by organizational perimeters, which represent the departments, services, subsidiaries taken into account and the functional scope relates to the products and services concerned. The Management of ENEC establishes and demonstrates its adherence to the Continuity of activities. This policy refers to the objectives of Business Continuity of the organization and the scope of the Business Continuity plan.
