Abstract

Linearization of multiple quantum well (MQW) lasers by predistortion requires optimization of the predistorter to match the laser characteristics. A Volterra series model of a predistorter is investigated over a frequency range appropriate to the second generation of cordless and cellular radio systems operating in the 1.8 GHz band, that is DCS1800 and DECT. Third-order intermodulation products generated by two arbitrarily spaced tones are calculated and compared with the measured values, showing good agreement over the required range of frequencies and input signal levels.
