Abstract

This chapter presents an overview of the techno-economics of liquid absorbent-based post-combustion CO2 capture (PCC) processes, including a discussion of the important parameters, assumptions, and methodologies utilized when conducting these evaluations. The importance of the basic evaluation tools and assumptions were highlighted in this chapter. The CO2 capture simulation, design, and evaluation criteria are discussed. The importance of the interaction between the power plant reference case (without capture) and the power plant case after the addition of the capture plant were stressed. In addition, a detailed literature review for different power plant and CO2 capture absorbents reference cases were presented and used to benchmark the liquid-based capture technology.
