Abstract

This chapter discusses the synthesis, as well as the fundamental physical and mechanical properties, of graphite nanoplatelets (GNPs) and the corresponding polymer-based composites containing GNPs. The chapter reviews the electrical conducting behavior of GNP polymer nanocomposites, and discusses the important factors determining the percolation threshold and conducting mechanisms, such as processing parameters, matrix material, aspect ratio and surface treatment of GNP.
