Abstract

Soot formation in freely-propagating laminar premixed flames in microgravity environment was investigated to: complete measurements of flame and soot properties in freely-propagating laminar premixed flames; reduce the measurements to find soot formation rates; and determine the measurements to develop and evaluate models of these processes. The experimental methods and the correlation of flame propagation properties are presented with conjunction to the effects of preferential diffusion and hydrodynamic instability.
