    Abstract

In this work, 2-Dimensional FeS2 thin films were deposited on different substrates through a plasma-assisted, radio frequency (RF)-powered sputtering method intending to analyze the properties for photovoltaic applications. The FeS2 films were characterized using several techniques. The as-prepared thin films were then tested for a solar device. Pyrite films showed excellent absorption in UV/Vis range, with the Tauc's plot calculations indicating a band gap of 1.2 eV, Moreover, solar device fabrication and analysis showed presence of photo-generated current, indicating a suitable material for photovoltaics.
