    Abstract

This paper discusses the reliability enhancement of offshore wind farm collection and transmission systems by redundancy analysis. The redundancy degree of wind farm collection and transmission systems is defined. A systematic wind farm redundancy design method, considering both reliability and economic costs, is proposed. An example offshore wind farm design is carried out with the proposed method and gives optimal design results. The proposed reliability enhancement by redundancy design has considerable advantages in complex large-scale offshore wind farm collection grid and transmission system design. © 2010 State Grid Electric Power Research Institute Press.
