Abstract
This chapter reviews the concept of Power-to-X technologies and the electrification of the chemical industry. After defining the main concept and presenting a few examples of current projects on this topic, the state-of-art of each Power-to-X technology is presented to give a better comprehension. A literature classification based on different criteria (publication year, electrification technology, region, etc.) is presented in this chapter. Results showed that the different Power-to-X have different timelines, and each of them underlies promising transition pathways and innovation opportunities for the electrification of the chemical industry.
