    Abstract

The emergence of green solutions and green engineering in separation science enables the processing and recycling of membrane materials is enabling the processing and recycling of membrane materials in a more sustainable manner. Designing for a circular economy requires the establishment of a series of interconnected closed-loop processes, where no waste streams are generated, but materials are recycled or repurposed to retain or increase their value. This transition, applicable to membrane science and engineering as well as other domains, calls for innovative engineering solutions that enable new ways of designing.
