Abstract

This paper develops an output feedback variable structure controller using dynamic compensation for linear state models when the Davidson-Kimura condition is not satisfied. In general, the need to use extra dynamics follows from the relative dimensions and the structural properties of the system. The method of equivalent control is used to describe an 'augmented reduced order system' in the sliding mode. Due to the reduction of order of the system in the sliding mode, the order of the compensator depends on the dimension of the reduced order system. A switched controller guaranteeing asymptotic stability to the switching surface is given. All points are illustrated by a simple example.
