Abstract

This letter investigates the performance of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) in a multi-cell downlink millimeter-wave (mmWave) network. A Poisson cluster point process is utilized to model the considered system. Key features of mmWave networks, such as directional beamforming and distance-dependent line of sight/non-line of sight, are taken into consideration. Nakagami fading is considered for small-scale fading. Closed-form expressions for outage probabilities achieved by the NOMA users are obtained. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the accuracy of the analytical results and also show that NOMA can outperform OMA in a multi-cell mmWave network.
