Abstract

With the exponential increase in the energy demand Research Engineers are finding new ways to cope up with this increase. Microgrids are a relatively more reliable and efficient employment when it comes to Distribution Power Systems. The operation of these mini-grids in islanded mode, in which they are disconnected from the main grid, is extremely beneficial in providing for the critical loads. This paper incorporates Master-Slave coordination method between the distributed generators (DG) in the microgrid where the regulation of the voltage at the buses is the key to controlling the Active power of the loads. The voltage references for the Master DG were altered using feedback of the current from the DG output. Slave DGs were operated in the controlled current mode following the voltage generated from Master DG. All the Inverter based DGs and their control are developed, and results are presented in the PSCAD/EMTDC environment.
