Abstract

A new test geometry for characterizing skin-core adhesion in thin and flexible-skinned sandwich structures has been developed. Tests on wide range of sandwich structures have shown that systems based on Nomex honeycomb cores offer high fracture energies. A series of comparative tests show that the center notched flexure sandwich CNFS geometry yields fracture energies similar to those obtained using other test configurations.
