Abstract

Heart rate variability in newborn infants can be used as an indicator of those likely to develop idiopathic respiratory distress syndrome. Various statistical and frequency-related parameters have been devices to model the variability and are suitable for prediction of ventilation needs and for discrimination between survivors and nonsurvivors.
