Abstract

Natural convective mass transfer from upward-pointing vertical cones, embedded in saturated porous media, has been studied using the limiting diffusion current technique (LDCT). The measured mass transfer coefficients are correlated by Shl = 1.4074 (Ra*l/Dal)0.3035, where Sh*l and Da l are modified Sherwood number, modified Rayleigh number, and Darcy number, respectively. The correlation is expected to predict well in the range of from Ra*l from 7.8 × 104 to 7.6 × 106 and in the range of Dal from 1.09 × 10-6 to 6.05 × 10-4.
