Abstract
However, with the use of very small electrodes (usually formed by top-down methods), it is possible to generate electric fields with such complex local geometry that the manipulation of single molecules in solution becomes possible - and these fields can be manipulated so that the particles can be steered across the electrodes and used to assemble miniature electric circuits.
