Abstract

In this paper a new Multi-polarized, Multi-Band MIMO antenna suitable for WiFi & WiMax applications is reported. It has high gain (better than 3.763dB) and improved efficiency of 95.7% in a richly scattering environment. Contrary to common belief, the structure, a magnetic dipole formed of ferrite tube surrounding an electric dipole, exploits multipath effects to obtain extra bandwidth by generating diverse types of E & H fields to separately carry information. The dipoles are placed in an orthogonal manner to achieve different polarization states. The antenna has resonance frequencies of 2.285 GHz, 2.9867 GHz & 2.4354 GHz.
