N2 - Cognitive deficits are considered common comorbidities in various mental disorders, such as Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Bipolar Disorder. Assistive technology and Serious Games (SGs), in particular, have been widely used to monitor and treat cognitive deficits, since they are considered effective. The herein study aims to introduce the design and development of an educational, brain-based SG, namely MindOfMine, which targets the cognitive impairments of people who are diagnosed with a mental disorder. The MindOfMine's usability was examined through the System Usability Scale, and the opinions of four patients with cognitive impairments were extracted through Attitude Toward Computers Questionnaire, adapted to SGs. The effect of the MindOfMine to enhance neurocognitive functions was then evaluated via Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale and STROOP assessments. Promising results regarding the usability, assessment and effectiveness of the MindOfMine brain-based SG approach are reported.
