Abstract
Preliminary results of a microseismic monitoring study conducted on an offshore oilfield in Abu Dhabi are presented. The objective of the study is to detect low-amplitude induced microseismicity related to gas injection activities. The data were recorded by a single downhole array during nine days of acquisition. A total of 150 microseismic events were detected. Of these 150 events, 78 were located using P and S wave arrival times and hodogram analysis. Microseismic events are only detected on two geophones closer to Thamama IV B reservoir and one of the gas injectors. Therefore, preliminary results indicate microseismic activities are related to gas injection.
