Abstract
Women with CAIS were satisfied with their female gender identity/role and sexual functioning. Because the majority of women did not require vaginoplasty for sexual functioning, we recommend waiting until adolescence or later for lengthening the vagina. Finally, better education about their condition was desired by women affected by CAIS; perhaps this would improve compliance with hormone replacement therapy for this group. Patients born with a micropenis were satisfied with their gender regardless of their sex of rearing. However, because the five women studied were not spared problems related to their body image and sexual function despite their female genital reconstruction, we agree with previous recommendations [4] for a male sex of rearing for patients with congenital micropenis.
