Abstract

Over the past decade, rapid improvements in analytical technology have enabled the identification of an increasing range of new chemical micropollutants in the aquatic environment at lower levels than previously possible. As a result of these advances, there have been growing concerns regarding the presence of emerging chemical micropollutants including disinfection byproducts, endocrine disrupting chemicals, pharmaceuticals and other trace emerging chemical substances in the aquatic environment.
