Abstract

This paper presents a study of EM wave propagation in underground pipeline. The aim of this work is to analyze the attenuation of EM wave in the pipelines caused by different dielectric mediums and conditions. The effects of EM wave frequency, attenuation, and medium conductivity are discussed. The optimum frequencies for minimum attenuation in different mediums were determined. This result will help establish efficient wireless communication in deep underground pipelines.
