Improved High Gain Quadratic Boost Converter Using Voltage Lifting Technique and Reduced Voltage Stress

    Abstract

    Here, in this paper an improved switched inductor quadratic boost converter (ISIQBC) with capacitor-inductor-diode (CLD) cell is proposed. The associated advantages of ISIQBC-CLD are high gain voltage, reduced voltage stress and continuous input current. The high voltage gain is achieved through voltage lifting technique using improved switched inductor (ISI). The integrated CLD cell at the load side of the proposed converter is not only responsible for getting reduced active switch voltage stress but also aids in improving the output voltage. The ISIQBC-CLD has been performed with closed loop design using Proportional-Integral (PI) controller to enhance the dynamic behavior. The comparability between the proposed ISIQBC-CLD converter and the conventional QBC, QBC-CLD and other high gain quadratic boost converters are represented. The proposed ISIQBC-CLD voltage gain is two times more than QBC-CLD. The ISIQBC-CLD is designed for 200 W output power with 50 kHz switching frequency and modeled in MATLAB/Simulink platform to validate its performance.
