Hot and cold: Perovskite electrodes powering energy landscape across temperatures

Research output: Contribution to journalReview articlepeer-review

Abstract

Concerning the immediate requirement of efficient and stable electrodes for energy conversion and storage devices, the current study encapsulates the understanding of the role of perovskite and its derivatives as an electrode for various electrochemical applications with a vast range of operating temperatures. The focus centers on the role of perovskites and layered double perovskites (LDP) as air electrodes in SOFCs (500-800 °C) and electrocatalysts for room-temperature applications such as metal-air batteries. Moreover, several strategies for improving oxygen reduction and oxygen evolution reactions have been discussed to explore the fundamental aspects of the material itself toward its commercial viability. Lastly, these compounds' morphology and electrochemical behavior in typical operational conditions have also been explored apart from the structural perspective.
