Abstract

Between October and November 2015, the first EAGE Middle-East BootCamp was held in the United Arab Emirates, in the Jebel Hafeet area. A seismic profile was acquired to improve our understanding of the geological evolution of the outcropping ophiolite formation, which is very rare worldwide. A major goal for this event was training both Emirati and international students in the seismic data acquisition, using state-of-the-art technology as the Single-Source Single-Sensor one. The BootCamp was promoted by EAGE (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers) and run by faculties of the Petroleum Institute of Abu Dhabi. We present the preliminary results and the current challenges in processing and interpreting this data.
