Abstract

In this paper, the power losses of the Dual Active Bridge (DAB) DC-DC converter are analyzed based on the converter's mode of operation by using the conventional phase shifting control strategy. The purpose of this paper is to develop a simple power loss model that can be used to calculate and predict power losses easily. With the help of the data sheet of the semiconductor devices, simple methods are used to calculate the switching and conduction losses. The loss model can also be used to evaluate the performance of the DAB at different power transfer levels. Moreover, the paper makes a comparison between the experimental and theoretical analysis to verify the method of power loss calculation in DAB. A 300W prototype controlled by TMS320C2000 DSP is implemented and tested.
