Abstract

In this paper, the use of an orthodontic brace as an antenna is investigated. The mouth cavity is modeled in a three-dimensional electromagnetic simulation software and the characteristics of the radiation from each tooth bracket is extracted. The results show the practical use and band limitations of using orthodontic brace as a radiating antenna. This concept can use electronic chips to detect bond breakage in the brace while the brace can be used as an antenna to transmit dental information for orthodontic applications.
