Abstract

This paper proposes an efficient demodulator for multiple frequency shift keying (MFSK) signals using a modified version of the time delay tanlock loop (TDTL) architecture. The proposed demodulator system uses a firstorder TDTL with feedback smoothing circuit block (SC-TDTL). The incorporation of the smoothing circuitry speeds up the acquisition process of the TDTL and hence the efficient MFSK demodulation. The simulation results of MFSK demodulation using TDTL and SC-TDTL show significant improvement in the acquisition speed using SC-TDTL. The performance of the proposed system was evaluated under noise-free as well as AWGN (additive white Gaussian noise) environments while subjecting it to MFSK signal using MATLAB/Simulink software tool.
