Abstract

Present vacuum switch operating mechanisms suffer from a number of problems including low reliability and high cost. This paper proposes a new vacuum switch magnetic actuator developed for an on-load tap-changer application. The new actuator is composed of two mechanically joined but magnetically separated modules; a solenoid driving module and a PM latching module.
