Abstract

The work presented in this paper describes an architecture for a secure Virtual Organization Management framework. This work is taking place in the BEinGRID EU project, which aims to advance the take up of Grid technologies in the business domain by conducting a number of business experiments and in parallel producing a number of components. The main contribution presented by the authors in this paper is an abstract solution for a secure Virtual Organization Management, based on IBM's Enterprise Grid Composite Pattern, and a set of design patterns to develop concrete software components for the above mentioned solution. The patterns presented in the paper represent a first concrete step to support Virtual Organizations that are highly dynamic, for example where the membership can change over time. It is this establishment of trust between businesses and the secure communication between that is the key extension to the Enterprise Grid Composite Pattern. As a concrete case study, we show how the patterns produced can be re-used in a concrete business experiment of the BEinGRID project aiming to implement a implement the Virtual Hosting Environment for distributed on-line gaming applications.
