title = "Design of Wide-Area Damping Controller with Static VAr Compensator for Inter-Area Oscillation",
abstract = "Resilience of the power grid can be significantly compromised by Inter-Area Oscillation (IAO). Mitigating these oscillations is crucial to prevent critical disturbances in power systems. In modern power systems, the use of Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices has become a common approach to effectively suppress these oscillations, consequently improving the system's resilience. In this research, a Decoupled Control Approach (DCA) based Wide-Area Damping Controller (WADC) using a Static VAr Compensator (SVC) is presented. This approach is employed to specifically address and mitigate inter-area oscillation modes without affecting other modes. In the state of equilibrium, the system undergoes linearization, followed by a modal analysis to identify and separate the crucial low-frequency oscillation (LFO) modes. The functionality and efficiency of the proposed WADC are validated through analyzed using simulation studies on the IEEE 11-bus system. The simulation demonstrates the efficacy of the suggested WADC through SVC, ensuring improved stability of the power system.",
