Abstract
In this paper, H-infinity controller is designed for doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind energy conversion system (WECS). The controller's detailed design procedure is developed for the rotor side converter (RSC). The controller full order controller as well as reduced order controller are examined. The controller performance and tradeoff between robustness and performance is analyzed using singular value graphs. The controller is validated and tested using Matlab/Simulink® simulations. The controller is able to directly and independently control the stator active and reactive powers precisely. The H-infinity controller is found to be a feasible option for DFIG system, and has good potential to be implemented for other compatible systems.
