Abstract
The propagation of high power signals in optical fibers can drastically reduce fiber lifetime or even can suddenly destruct it. In this work, we study three processes of optical fibers degradation resulting from high optical power propagation, namely, increase of the coating temperature of fiber bend sections, degradation of optical connectors and ignition and propagation of the fuse effect.
