Abstract
Access control techniques for extensible markup language (XML) provides a simple way to protect confidential information at the same granularity level provided by XML schemas. It represents both document structure and content, offering increased control of information granularity through transformation and query languages. This paper describes the approach to problems and the design guidelines that led to current implementation of an access control system for XML information.
