N2 - Commercially Fischer Tropsch (F-T) synthesis uses cobalt and iron catalyst to produce, hydrocarbons, oxygenates and chemicals including unrefined gasoline, diesel and wax ranges. The idea of using composite catalyst (mixture of a classical F-T catalyst and a co-catalyst) is relatively newer. These catalysts have superior performance. The effect of different adsorbent parameters (catalyst/adsorbent ratio, pore size, etc.) on the selectivity/activity of the F-T synthesis was studied. The historical development and present status of the cobalt catalyst for F-T synthesis was examined. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the AIChE Annual Meeting (Salt Lake City, UT 11/4-9/2007).
