Abstract
The neonatal EEG is useful for the diagnosis and management of at risk neonates. It detects unsuspected cerebral pathology, suggest etiopathogenesis and infers time of insult and predict neurologics outcome of neonates with perinatal asphixia. The neonatal EEG maybe a source of error if it too heavily relied upon to establish a diagnosis, the reader is not acquantained with the wide range of normal patterns, maturation of changes and significance of the pathological findings.
