Abstract

Chattering in sliding-mode control systems is known as an undesirable effect that reduces system performance with respect to the theoretical performance expected in accordance with the design. In the present book chapter, the metrics applied to chattering evaluation as well as the effect of chattering on system performance in position-control mechanical systems are studied.
