Abstract

A simple model for predicting the ballistic perforation energy of a composite target is proposed. Account is made for energy dissipation in localised flexure, contact deformations, delamination and shear out. The model is compared with experimental data and agreement appears to be good for target thicknesses up to and including four millimetres.
