Abstract

A two dimensional finite element fluid model coupled to a chemical model has been developed to predict the behaviour of a HgTlI discharge lamp. The effect of the atomic ratio on the temperature field, velocity distribution and transport coefficients of the HgTlI discharge has been explored. It has been shown that the variation of the mercury to thallium atomic ratio has a significant effect on the transport coefficients and temperature field.
