Analysis of methane-air edge flame structure

Abstract

We compute a methane-air edge flame stabilized against a uniform incoming flow with a prescribed mixture fraction gradient. We explore the basic structure of this edge flame using computational singular perturbation theory. We use the analysis results to comment on the observed internal spatial structure of hydrocarbon fields. We also examine Nitrogen reactions, and identify those reactions with dominant importance to the slow evolution of NO, N2O, and NO2 in various regions around the edge flame.
