abstract = "Fractional-slot concentrated-winding ermanent magnet synchronous machines (FSCW-PMSMs) are finding more presence in many applications, especially as propulsion motors in electric vehicles. Accurate analytical modelling of these machines is important in order to achieve effective and optimum designs. One of the important machine attributes that strongly affects its performance is the air-gap flux density waveform. This work presents an analytical method to calculate the spatio-temporal air-gap flux density waveform for a surface mounted FSCW-PMSM, with an accuracy comparable to numerical methods such as FEA but with relatively much lower computational cost. A validation of the proposed model is presented by comparing to FEA results.",
