Abstract

A comprehensive approach is proposed to design controllers for DC-DC converters by using affine parameterization and anti-windup strategies. Besides traditional lead-lag-compensator design based on Bode diagram, this method can be treated as an alternative approach to design linear controllers for stable control loops. The advantage of affine parameterization is that the controller parameters are directly derived from desired closed-loop models. The designer can easily make a trade-off decision between system performance and robustness. Two cases are investigated separately, one includes only a voltage feedback controller, and another has a supplementary current limiter using inductor current measurement. Further, this study proposes an anti-windup scheme combining with current limiter to avoid windup and reduce current overshoot in controlling DC-DC converters.
