Abstract

Energy has become one of the major concerns for any government, not only its availability but also finding the right mix for the next generations. This research studies Abu Dhabi's energy mix (EM) for one year considering several challenges in the electrical generation sector. In particular, this research utilizes linear optimization methodology using PLEXOS program to model Abu Dhabi's energy mix, taking into account the technical and environmental aspects of the energy sector. In this work, the real Abu Dhabi electrical generation and network is modeled. This research means to help the UAE government plan the future EM and assess the performance of the electrical generators in order to maximize their usage in meeting the demand. Moreover, it gives insight into future research development in this area.
