Abstract

The angle sensor is the most important parameter in various industrial applications. Here we designed and developed a simple and novel angle sensor measurement senor using polymer optical fiber. The principle of the system mainly based on the twisted macro-bend coupling phenomena TMBC. In the proposed method, the bend-loss is generated by macro-bending of fiber that was pulled through stepper motor. Then, this bend-loss was a coupled in second fiber via twisting and takes measurement. The proposed sensor used for clock and anti-clockwise direction having the sensitivity of 2.2 nW/°, and the resolution is 0.45°. The experimental results illustrate that sensor has good stability and repeatability. The sensor design is simple, holistic and low cost, which can be used in robotic, cranes, avionics and in other fields.
