    Abstract

Cities have a significant impact on climate governance. Although urban areas comprise just 2% of the earth’s surface, they account for more than 70% of worldwide carbon emissions [1]. This ratio is growing as urbanization and energy use both increase [1]. For a better understanding of carbon emissions on a global scale and their influence on climate change, the evaluation of urban carbon emissions is therefore crucial.
